The next meeting of the Alachua County Democratic Party will be on Wednesday, June 9th at 7:00 PM in the County Administration Building (SE 1st St. and University Ave.). All Democrats are encouraged to attend! Some of us will gather before the meeting (around 5:30 pm) at Emilano’s Cafe (7 SE 1st Ave.) for supper and to socialize. Please join us if you can!

Black Caucus1The Alachua County Democratic Black Caucus will hold its monthly meeting this Thursday, July 10 in the Grace Knight Meeting room in the Alachua County Administration building (SE 1st St. & University Ave.), beginning at 6:00 PM. All Democrats are welcome!

BlueDoorCafeFriday, June 20th will be the third Friday of the month, so you know what that means - another Blue Door Café! Join us at the Democratic Party Center (901 NW 8th Ave., Suite A-3, Gainesville) from 5 to 7 PM. Bring a spouse/friend/co-worker, your favorite food or drink if you’d like, and enjoy good conversation with other good Democrats.

The Stonewall Democrats of Alachua County will host the Florida GLBT Democratic Caucus Summer Conference on the weekend of July 18-20 in Gainesville, FL. The meeting will be held at the Hilton UF Conference Center Saturday, July 19, from 9 am to 5 pm.

The meeting will revolve around issues important to the Democratic GLBT community such as Congressional ENDA bills, the Matthew Shepherd Hate Crimes law, Florida’s non-discrimination policy, and Florida’s anti-gay marriage amendment. The conference will also feature local and statewide candidates and officeholders as well as national activist leaders and panels on various topics such as gender identity ordinances. Representatives from the Human Rights Campaign, Equality Florida, and the Florida ACLU LGBT Advocacy Project will speak at the conference.
