All Democrats are encouraged to attend! Some of us will gather before the meeting (around 5:30 pm) at Emilano’s Cafe (7 SE 1st Ave.) for supper and to socialize. Please join us!

This year is our BIG chance to finally fix our broken health care system! In the past, reform has failed when its opponents were able to confuse and scare the public with distortions, exaggerations, and outright lies. Write a letter to the editor to help educate the public about the urgent need for reform and the President’s vision for achieving it. On August 19th, Fred Pratt, VP of the Alachua County Democrats with Disabilities Caucus, and several other ACDEC members met in Gainesville with Celeste Brown, Regional Director to US Senator Bill Nelson (D, FL) to encourage his sponsorship of the Community Choice Act of 2009 (HR 1670/SB 683). Ms. Brown was very positive in her response and is passing along our requests to Senator Nelson. The Community Choice Act will allow the allocation of Medicaid funds for long-term, home-based care.
