The next meeting of the Alachua County Democratic Party will be Wednesday, March 10th at 7:00 pm in the County Administration Building (SE 1st St. and University Ave.). In the past, reform has failed when its opponents were able to confuse and scare the public with distortions, exaggerations, and outright lies. On August 19th, Fred Pratt, VP of the Alachua County Democrats with Disabilities Caucus, and several other ACDEC members met in Gainesville with Celeste Brown, Regional Director to US Senator Bill Nelson (D, FL) to encourage his sponsorship of the Community Choice Act of 2009 (HR 1670/SB 683). Ms. Brown was very positive in her response and is passing along our requests to Senator Nelson. The Community Choice Act will allow the allocation of Medicaid funds for long-term, home-based care.
